It's about time Marky Mark. I knew you couldn't stand it supporting those terrible teams up in New England much longer. I don't care what this was for, I would sell my soul before you caught me wearing anything associated with Boston or New England on it! Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, We here at the Improp are thankful for all you fans since we started. Please keep up the great support and keep shouting us out to everyone you know!
Whether you love him or hate him you have to respect the career of Allen Iverson. It was reported today by Stephen A. Smith on Sportscenter that Iverson has announced his retirement from the NBA in the video below. In 13 seasons Iverson had a Hall of Fame worthy career including 1 MVP (2001), 4 scoring titles, and a 10 time NBA All-Star. Iverson will go down as one of the, if not the best small men to every play in the NBA. He had amazing talent, but it was his attitude and his off the court issues that turned so many teams away from giving Iverson another chance. This season he played in only 3 games with the Memphis Grizzlies after leaving the team for "personal reasons" on November 7th.
There are two things I absolutely cant stand. Watching a football game on NFL Network is one of them. The other, waiting all day in anticipation for the Giants to play, only to see them get blown out of the water, on NFL Network. What a way to ruin the end of my great Thanksgiving day. I just want to note, the only good thing the NFL Network has ever brought to the table is the scouting combine. That's It.
As far as the game, there's really nothing much to talk about. I'm not going to go into stats and get all in depth cause there's not much there. I'd only be talking about the Broncos stats cause they were the only team that had decent ones. The Giants couldn't run the ball to save their lives, Eli looked like a rookie again afraid to throw the ball. It amazes me how hot and cold he can be at times. He goes from winning a Superbowl to looking like he might not be able to hang in a pick up game at your local YMCA.
Held to just 6 points, the offense was a joke. The defense wasn't that much better. In the first quarter, the Broncos had the ball within field goal range on a fourth and 5 and they chose to go for it, and picked up the first down. That's when I knew it was going to be a long night.
One of the only bright moments from the game was the video I posted above where Broncos Head Coach Josh McDaniels is absolutely tearing into his team, on live TV. Good job by the NFL Network to censor that out, really professional. I don't know why I'm hating on them so much, I just cant stand the network, the announcers, and I'm in a bad mood cause the Giants lost. I mean like, on a scale of 1 to Chris Brown, I'm Rihanna in court mad.
This loss really hurts the Giants playoff chances, especially with the Cowboys, and Green Bay winning. It puts them into 3rd place in the NFC east no matter what Philly does on Sunday cause they have the tiebreak. The only thing that could save them is the fact that besides the big 3 in the NFC (NO, MIN, DAL) everyone else is pretty average to terrible. The Packers and Eagles would have the wild card if the season ended today with the Giants just on the outside. If they don't start playing better real fast, they should get going on reserving tee times come January.
I saw this shit up on funnyordie.com. Great stuff. I'm glad one of Boston's brightest stars, Joey McIntyre, is still showing love for his city. Boston may not have the star power New York has, but god damnit do our stars have heart. Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, the Wahlberg boys, and Joey Mac all do Boston sports hardcore. Props to Ben Affleck for actually getting Bronx native, Ms. Jenny from da block to attend games at Fenway Park. Keep doing your thug thizzle Ben, I ain't mad atcha.
Bob Sheppard didn't actually utter the word "retire," but the 99 year old Yankees public address announcer says "I have no plans of coming back." Sheppard has been the Yankees P.A. announcer since 1951. Sheppard suffered a bronchial infection in 2007, and hasn'tannounced a game since then.
Asked if he would even be able to return for one last game, Sheppard told MLB.com "It’s not just the two hours or three hours of baseball....It ’s the trip, the preparation, the trip home, and a long, long day. I think at my age, it's time to accept the fact that I had a great run. A great run. And I only made a few mistakes along the way."
The only player who still comes out to Bob Sheppard's voice is Derek Jeter, who had Sheppard record his introduction for him. Sheppard has yet to visit the new stadium, but is hoping to do so in 2010.
