Will The Texans Ever Get Over The Hump?

The Texans sit at 5-5, on pace for another .500 season, and another season that will most likely end without a playoff berth. The Texans are still a very young franchise, but after years and years of progress they felt as if this was the season they were finally good enough to make the playoffs.
Make no mistake the Texans have playoff level talent, but for some reason they just cant put it together when it matters most...Must win games against division rivals, and other teams in the playoff hunt.

This was suppose to be the year for the Texans to finally breakthrough..You look up and down the roster and you see a reliable quarterback, an all around talented running back, an experienced offensive line, arguably the best wide out in the game, and a young and talented defense.
Even will all the hype the Texans were unable to get a fast start out of the blocks...The season started with a home lose against the Jets...A team they probably should have beat. When your in the same division as the Colts you cant afford to start a season like that. You also can't afford to lose a game to the Colts when you have them exactly where you want them like they did in week 8.
The Texans for some odd reason or another can't win the close one's. Take away the Jets lose and the Texans have lost four games by a total of 20 points, all by one possession. ..So what is it, why can't the Texans get over the hump?

Clear and simple, they lack that killer instinct, you watch the Texans and it seems like there almost afraid to just go for it and win. They don't play to win, they play not to lose, and maybe that's why they're still a .500 team.

You saw it again tonight against the Titans. Once the Texans got around Kris Brown's range they spiked the ball, and ran a QB sneak to the center of the field. They didn't try to get any closer, they didn't try and go for the win. Instead the Texans were content with a 49 yd field goal attempt. 49 yards is never a given, especially with a kicker who has already missed clutch situation kicks this year. In my opinion this all falls on the head coach...Gary Kubiak needs to grow a set, or soon enough he will be out of a job.

The Texans are still only one game out of a wild card spot in the AFC. If they continue to play like this when all is said and done they will most likely fall just out of reach of the playoffs....Again. Like I said before they have the talent, they seem to have the desire, now they need that fire and drive to finally get over the hump.
