John Tavares Returns Home, Islanders Win in Toronto

John Tavares returned home to his native Toronto, as the Islanders faced off against the Maple Leafs tonight at the Air Canada Centre. Tavares didn’t record a point, but the Islanders were still able to come out on top 4-3 in overtime.

To say Dwayne Rolloson was dominant would be an understatement. The Maple Leafs recorded 61 shots on a goal and Roli the Goalie was able to save a robust 58 shots. The Islanders made the most of their 21 shots, scoring all over their regulation goals in the second period.

The Islanders had a 3-1 lead going into the third period. Like clockwork they quickly squandered the lead, but in overtime Josh Bailey made sure they didn’t lose the game, scoring on the Islanders only shot of the period.

The Islanders now have 25 points…That’s good enough for ninth in the Eastern Conference. After a long road trip the Islanders look forward to returning home Wednesday night to face Atlantic Division rival Philadelphia Flyers.
