Joey Porter on Brady: "He has his own set of rules"

JockLife.net- Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter is one player who seems to never back down from anything. In the past he had talked about knocking the New Orleans Saints off their high horses, his hatred for the New York Jets and the New England Patriots. Now Porter is going after the Patriots biggest star; their quarterback Tom Brady.

Porter claims that Brady has his own set of rules whenever he plays the game.

“No question,” said Porter. “When a guy can tell a ref when to throw a flag and he gets it and stuff like that, he got his own rules. They made the whole [rule that you] don’t go at the legs because of Tom. So when he feels that someone is coming at his legs, he just points at the ref and he gets a flag. So you’ve got to honestly say that he got his own rules.”

This Sunday Porter and his Dolphins visit the Patriots at Foxborough in a battle of divisional foes and no handshakes or dinner afterwards is expected.

In Porter’s interview with the NFL Network, he did not hide his feelings and displayed obviously he intended to go hard in New England. Porter wants Miami to retain the divisional crown they won last year. In his opinion, the Dolphins are still the champions until the Patriots currently sitting at the top of the AFC East wins the division.

Earlier this week, we had mentioned Porter’s disgust and “natural hate” for the Patriots as he also brought up the Spygate scandal of 2007.

“Never really too much cared for New England,” Porter said. “Still don’t care for New England. The hate's been there for a while, especially after all the cheating they did back in the day. I can honestly say I don’t agree with it, but it happened, and it’s over with now.”

HATER IN THE HOUSE! Damn where is Stuart Scott when you need him? Joey Porter has clearly been sipping on some Haterade this week. It seems whenever Porter plays against the Patriots he always has the something bad to say about them. Come to think of it, I don't think he has had a lot of good things to say about any team. It sounds to me like Joey Porter is nothing but a very sad man.

But can you blame him? Throughout Porter's career--with the Steelers and Dolphins--the Patriots have been a thorn in his side. Porter's teams are 3-6 against the Patriots lifetime. The Patriots have stood in the way of Porter going to the Super Bowl--not once, but two times.

In 2001, the heavily favored 13-3 Steelers played host to the surprising, upstart Patriots with an unheralded QB at the reigns. His name was Tom Brady. The Patriots would go on to embarrass the Steelers on their home turf, with WR Troy Brown providing two huge returns for touchdowns. The Pats won the game, 24-17 and went on to win the Super Bowl. Joey Porter watched the Super Bowl in his underwear sitting on his ass.

In 2004, the 15-1 Steelers played host yet again to the Patriots, who were equally matched with a 14-2 record. Different year same result. The Patriots whooped up on the Steelers, 41-27. The Patriots went on to win the Super Bowl...again. And Joey Porter watched the Super Bowl in his underwear...sitting on his ass...again.

You see where I'm going with this? He's a great player, there's no questioning his on-the-field ability. The guy has a serious attitude problem. You know I heard of a team that does great with players and their attitude problems. I can see it now...Joey Porter hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in a Patriot uniform and then hugging Bill Belichick with tears streaming down his face. Hey, stranger things have happened...
