Brady wins Comeback Player of the Year Award

Yaawwwnn. Big deal a former MVP in his first season back from an injury wins the Comeback Player of the Year Award.

I expected Brady to contend for the MVP award this season, let alone taking home this one. If you look at his numbers, his whole season seemed ho-hum, nothing out of the ordinary. Just around 30 TDs, 11 INTs, and 4,000 yards passing. But this season was hardly ho-hum for Brady. He has been, arguably, under the most scrutiny of his career this season. Brady's return meant the Patriots return to greatness--all that was once wrong would be right again.

Every week there seemed to be a new "breaking" story about the Patriots. One week it was "THE PATRIOTS ARE BACK!". And the next week after a loss it would be "HAVE THE PATRIOTS LOST THEIR SWAGGER?". The media would hop off their bandwagon almost as fast as they got on. Add to the mixture the ups and downs Randy Moss faced this year and the media backlash that followed. With all the negativity surrounded the Pats, you'd swear that they were a sub .500 team and that Brady was the reason.

Not the case at all. In fact, Brady was elected to his fifth Pro Bowl. Of course he probably won't go, but he was named with the honor. In a season that to the untrained eye might be a disappointment, Brady had his second highest completion percentage (65.7) and his second highest yards per attempt (7.8).

Brady narrowly beat out Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Cadillac Williams. He rushed for 821 yards, 4 TDs, while averaging 3.9 a carry after missing last year with two serious knee injuries. Let's hope Brady and his bunch can continue the success this weekend as they play the Ravens at home on Sunday 1 p.m. EST.
