(Patriots 4th&2 play)

Why, Bill? Why?! Why would you go for it on 4th&2? Why did you waste two time outs early on? Why didn't you trust your defense? Why did you give Manning a mere 28 yards to work with? You are the Genius, Bill, but right now I think you're more like Rain Man. The game was in cruise control! And a rare mistake by the Patriots head coach cost them a huge victory against the undefeated Colts. "In Bill We Trust?" Not with bone-head miscues in the Rivalry of the Decade.

The Colts had two timeouts left before the two minute warning. Of course Manning is going to make something happen. He's Peyton Manning! I'm not sure if the move to go on 4th&2 was out of fear or arrogance.

The game was dubbed "The Game of the Year" and it certainly lived up to the hype. The Pats looked like their juggernaut form of 2007 as Brady-to-Moss was in more use than the Green Line. The defense looked good, picking off two Manning passes while injuring nearly their entire backfield.

Then the comeback mounted. And that once staunch defense grew tired, and Manning picked at them like a vulture feasting on its barely-living prey. But even then, the Patriots still had the game in hand. It was their uncharacteristically poor clock management that let the game slip out of their grasp.

Despite what people say about him, Belichick will take the fall for this one. The Pats will leave Indianapolis tonight but their tails should not be between their legs. They know they can play with the undefeated Colts, clearly the class of the AFC. They were able to, at times, look dominant in the passing game, steady in the run game, aggressive on defense and sound on specials teams. The Pats did a lot of good for the majority of the 60 minutes. Perhaps time was just not on the Hooded One's side.
