Burress Out Early?

New York Post - Barely two months into his two-year gun-possession sentence, Plaxico Burress is already angling to get out of prison -- and to shop for a lucrative NFL contract.

The disgraced former Giant superstar has applied for a work furlough that would let him spend anywhere from one to seven nights a week home with his wife, 3-year-old son and newborn daughter, state Department of Corrections officials confirm.

If his request is granted, Burress could also immediately start looking for a new team while on furlough time -- sitting down for negotiations face to face rather than via prison phone calls or visits.

PRISON 'BREAK': Plaxico Burress has applied for a work furlough that would let him spend evenings at home with his family, including son Elijah.

Burress is currently in protective custody at Oneida Correctional Facility in upstate Rome, where visitors to other inmates tell The Post that Burress appears depressed and isolated.

A decision on the furlough will likely come sometime in January, said state Corrections spokeswoman Linda Foglia.

I'm happy for Plax. I think yes, it was one of the dumbest things I have heard a pro athlete do in a while but did he deserve 2 years, absolutely not. He didn't harm anyone else other than himself! Does anyone remember, Ray Lewis murdered a person, got away with it, and didn't miss a thing! There's been tons of NFL players that have done much worse things and haven't seen any jail time or missed a game. I think Plaxico deserves a second chance and if this is his opening then so be it. I think it would be good for him to be able to get out and see his family, and at the same time start talking to some teams and working up a contract for when he gets out. NYC just wanted to make an example of someone famous and he happened to pay for his stupidity. Next time your roll up to the club Plax, lets throw on some jeans or something not sweats, and I'm pretty sure they started making guns with these things called safeties on them. Look into it!
