Tiger Woods Saga Gets More "Juicy"

As if the 11 mistresses and counting weren't enough...The Tiger Woods scandal has finally hit the golf course. The New York Times is now reporting that Woods has been linked to a Canadian doctor who is being investigated by the FBI.

Dr. Anthony Galea was stopped at the U.S.-Canada border, and found with human growth hormone and Actovegin--a drug extracted from calf's blood, in his bag. The use or sale of Actovegin is illegal in the United States.

Galea treated Woods while he was rehabbing his surgically repaired left knee. Galea was flown down to Florida at least four times to perform a procedure known as "platelet rich plasma therapy"-- in which blood is taking from from the injured area, spoon, and then injected back into the injured area. The procedure is believed to help speed up recovery time.

According to Galea, he was sent down to treat Woods based on the recommendation of Woods agent Mark Steinberg and IMG. Steinberg told ABC news "The New York Times is flat wrong, no one at IMG has ever met or recommended Dr. Galea." The Times believes Galea was sent down to treat Woods because IMG was "worried about the progress of Woods recovery." Steinberg has said that this was "falsely reported."

Galea's attorney, Brian H. Greenspan said "Dr. Galea was never engaged in any wrongdoing or any impropriety...Not only does he have a reputation that is impeccable, he is a person at the very top of his profession." Galea told the Times that "it would be impossible" for investigators to have found material linking the athletes he treats to performance-enhancing drugs.Galea has also treated Olympic swimmer Dana Torres, and several NFL athletes.

Galea says he has used HGH for himself for ten years now, but has never given it to any of his athletes. The Times reported that, Galea also is being investigated by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for smuggling, advertising and selling unapproved drugs as well as criminal...

...Am I shocked that Tiger Woods cheated on his wife? No not at all, Woods is a pro-athlete, and this happens all the time in pro-sports. Woods is a man who quite frankly made a poor decision getting hitched. If you know your not going to be faithful, then why get married? Its not like this was a girlfriend or something, this is your wife, and the mother of your children. A man should know to take all of that into account before he considers involving himself in such "transgressions." C'mon Tiger, don't beat around bush by calling them "transgressions." We know your educated, your a Stanford man,but your not fooling anybody...Cheating is cheating, no matter how you word it. With that said, will I be shocked if it is found that Woods has taken PED's? Yes, yes I would...If Woods took HGH, this will go down as one of the greatest individual falls from grace in sports history-- perhaps in all of history. I mean you have entertainers, athletes, politicians that are linked to scandals all the time, but there are two types of scandals, ones that involve the professional life, and ones that involve the personal life-- and rarely is a figure involved in both, and at the same time to boot. This has the potential to be worse than Barry Bonds, worse than Sammy Sosa, worse than Kobe Bryant...If this is found to be true, Tiger will have officially hit rock bottom, and will go down as the most disgraced athlete of all time. I hope, simply for the game of golf that this isn't true. We always talk about tournaments breaking down like this-- Tiger and then the field...We are always looking for someone to rise up and compete with Tiger, not just at one tournament but every weekend. To even imagine that this whole time the reason Tiger was so far ahead of the field because he was using PED's is unbelievable, and by far the most damaging PED related scandal in sports history. I know it only involves one man, but that one man has dominated his sport unlike anyone any athlete has dominated their sport, and if Tiger did cheat this effects every single man on tour. The backlash and damage that the tour could incur due to this story is almost inconceivable.
