Welcome to New York...Curtis Granderson.

MLB.com is reporting that a three team deal has been agreed to in principle that will do the following...

Yankees- Get OF Curtis Granderson from Detroit.

Tigers- Get P Mark Scherzer and P Daniel Schlereth from Arizona, as well OF Austin Jackson and P Phil Coke from New York.

Diamondbacks- Get P Ian Kennedy from New York, as well as P Edwin Jackson from Detroit.

I like this deal for the Yankees because they get a outfielder they could use right now in Granderson. Granderson can hit, he can field, and hes got speed. Granderson is arguably one of the best five tool players in the league right now, who still uses all five tools--Guys like AROD are of course still a five tool player but they don't use their speed nearly as much as they use too. While I've been eagerly anticipating to see what all the Austin Jackson hype is all about, the Yankees couldn't afford to wait much longer--They need to be proactive in defending their title, and by completing the biggest blockbuster trade of this off season thus far they have shown they will be. Its no secret the Yankees need to get younger, especially in the outfield, and if all they have to give up to do that is a outfield prospect who is an unknown, Ian Kennedy who seems to have a panic attack anytime he steps on a major league mound, and Phil Coke ill take that. Ill miss Coke, but year in and year out the Yankees seem to have a above average bullpen with half the staff being new to the team...Coke was replaceable.

P.S. I know this is going to sound like total Yankee arrogance, mainly because it is--But one of the reasons I don't mind giving up a prospect like Jackson is because I know 5,6,7 years down the road when Jackson is just hitting his prime the Yankees will have the money to sign him, and will be one of the top teams in the running for him....The Empire always strikes back.
