Great day for NY football fans

With the Jets already winning on Thursday night, the Giants had a must win game yesterday against division rival Dallas Cowboys. Led by Brandon Jacobs and his 2 Touchdowns, the G-men didn't disappoint. Domenik Hixon did his best to match Jacobs, with an amazing punt return for a touchdown. The beginning of the play seemed like nothing was going to develop, but Hixon escaped numerous defenders and took the punt 79 yards for the score.

It seems like both teams are turning things around after they suffered an abismal November that saw the 2 teams combine for a 2-6 record. To say the least it was a tough month to be a fan of either team which had so much promise in the beginning of the season.

They both increased their chances at a playoff spot, especially with some key losses by other teams. The Eagles actually helped out the Giants by beating the Falcons, and the Dolphins beating the Patriots was huge for the Jets chances. New England sits at 7-5 for the first time in years with both the Fins and Jets at 6-6 one game back in the AFC east. The Giants currently sit at 7th place overall in the NFC just on the outside of the playoff picture.

Tonights MNF game is huge for both the Giants and the Jets. The Ravens are ahead of the Jets in the wild card standings at 6-5 and the Packers ahead of the Giants with a record of 7-4. Whoever wins tonight is going to benefit and also hurt the chances of getting a NY team to the postseason. The Giants loss last week to Denver was incredibly costly to the Jets in the wild card picture as they crushed the Cheifs yesterday and moved to 8-4 and have the first wild card position in the AFC.

There are many key match-ups next week to be looking forward to. The Giants in their second of 3 straight division games take on the Eagles. A win vs. Philly and a Cowboys loss to San Diego would put the 3 teams in a 3 way tie atop the NFC east. Giants have 2 straight primetime games coming up too, Sunday night with Philly and the next week they have the Monday night game against Washington.

The Jets will have the Bucs next week, a very winnable game. Every game from here on out is virtually a must win for the .500 Jets if they want to see post season action. Next week the Pats have a should be win when they take on the Panthers and the Dolphins take on the Jags in an in-state battle. The play of all the teams in the AFC east have been so up and down all year I see this race going down to the final week.

Depending on what happens in tonight's game, a loss for either NY team next week could mean the end of their playoff chances this season. Lets hope the Pats can keep choking, and the Cowboys do what they do best in December, lose!
