The Return of LeGarratte Blount

The last time we saw LeGarratte Blount on a football field, he was more boxer than running back, but after a lengthy suspension and a long time riding the bench Blount was back on the field last night, playing for Oregon in one of the most important games in school history.

The annual "Civil War" game between Oregon and Oregon State always has huge implications, but none bigger than the winner goes to the Rose Bowl match up that took place in Eugene last night. The game was epic, a back and forth affair featuring two terrific offenses..It was rather refreshing to see Blount be apart of that offense that was able to wear down the Oregon State defense in a 37-33 victory.

Blount only rushed the ball 9 times, but he was able to gain 51 BIG yards and score a touchdown. Blount's bruising running style served as a nice change of pace from the speedy LaMichael James.

In my opinion Blount really got a raw deal back in September when he was suspended for the rest of season after "sucker punching" Boise State's Byron Hout. I put sucker punch in quotes, because I think Byron Hout is a straight up p*ssy. Dude went out of his way to talk smack to Blount after the game, and if it wasn't for his head coach Chris Peterson attempting to intervene who would have known what Hout was going to do. Hout was face to face with Blount, that wasn't a sucker punch...Blount just had the quicker trigger finger. I was thrilled when Blount was reinstated, and I was even more happy when I saw him on the field last night...I hope he gets even more playing time in the Rose Bowl against Ohio State. Blount could go a long way in helping to wear down that tough Buckeye defense. I also hope Blount gets his chance in the NFL, a dream that seemed all but dead in September.
